A developer is sitting in front of a laptop, looking at a piece of code that needs to be cleaned up.
Instead of typing a long prompt, he simply says, “Review this module, but leave the database alone.”
Qoder starts going through the code and suggests a few ways to handle the task. Halfway through, the developer changes his mind.
“Use the second option,” he says. “And add a caching layer.”
There is no need to stop the task or rewrite the instructions. Qoder takes the new request into account and keeps working.
That is the idea behind Qoder Voice, a new real-time voice feature added to Alibaba Cloud’s coding platform, Qoder.
Using coding assistants often involves a lot of typing. Developers have to explain what they want, wait for a result, then rewrite the prompt when something is missing or misunderstood. For larger jobs, that back-and-forth can take almost as much time as the coding itself.
Qoder Voice is designed to make that process feel more like a conversation with a colleague. Users can talk through an idea before every detail is settled, interrupt when the work is heading in the wrong direction, and add new instructions while the task is still running.
The feature supports continuous voice conversations rather than a simple question-and-answer format. That makes it especially useful for work such as code refactoring, feature development and debugging, where the plan often changes once the job is underway.
Qoder already supports code analysis, development and testing across desktop, command-line and JetBrains environments. With voice added, the platform is moving beyond basic prompt-and-response coding and toward a more collaborative way of working.
The keyboard is not going anywhere. But when a task is complicated and the idea is still taking shape, speaking may be a faster and more natural way to get started.
