AKOOL Overview

AKOOL is more like an AI video toolbox than a platform dedicated to a single function.

Face Swap is the easiest feature to start with. After uploading a photo, you can replace faces in images or videos, including scenes with multiple people. The quality depends heavily on the source material. Results look relatively natural when the face is front-facing, the lighting is normal, and the resolution is high enough. Obstructions or extreme angles are more likely to reveal a composited appearance.

The second major feature is Talking Avatar.

The platform provides more than 200 preset digital avatars. You can also create an Instant Avatar from a photo or train a Studio Avatar from footage of a real person for a closer likeness. After entering text or audio, the avatar generates a corresponding talking-head video.

Video translation is one of AKOOL’s more distinctive capabilities.

It supports more than 155 languages. Rather than only replacing the audio track, it also synchronizes lip movements, making the person appear to speak the new language directly. This is practical for international advertising, courses, and branded video content.

The platform also offers AI image generation, background processing, and Streaming Avatars. Streaming Avatars are mainly intended for livestreaming, customer service, and real-time conversational scenarios.

AKOOL is available on the web and mobile devices and also provides an API, allowing businesses to integrate these capabilities into their own workflows.

AKOOL Pricing

PlanPriceDescription
Starter Approximately $12 per month Includes approximately 200 credits per month and supports watermark-free 1080p output, primarily for individual testing and light use.
Pro Approximately $21 per month Includes more credits, supports output up to 4K, and unlocks additional models and video-translation capabilities.
Pro Max Approximately $41.3 per month Provides higher usage allowances, output up to 8K, API access, workspaces, and faster processing, making it suitable for frequent individual users or small teams.
Enterprise Custom pricing Designed for large enterprises, with more advanced digital-avatar capabilities, security, SSO, dedicated resources, and support services.

AKOOL uses a credit-based pricing system. Face swapping, digital avatars, video translation, and different output specifications all consume credits at different rates, while pricing varies with the included allowance.

Credit allowances vary considerably across plans, and the actual amount may change depending on the specific version.

Licensing is another detail that is easy to overlook. Starter, Pro, and Pro Max are mainly intended for personal use. For advertising, branded content, or other commercial projects, check the commercial-use terms carefully. Business is the safer starting point.

Credit consumption should also be calculated in advance.

Both video translation and digital avatars consume credits according to duration. The cost may not seem significant for individual short videos, but during batch production, 100–200 credits can be used very quickly.

AKOOL Editorial Review

When you first open AKOOL, the most obvious problem is not that it is difficult to use, but that it is difficult to know which feature to start with.

Face Swap, translation, Avatars, image generation, and background tools all have their own entry points, making the platform considerably more complex than AI products dedicated to a single function.

I began by testing Face Swap.

Using a clear, front-facing photo in a video with normal lighting produced a more natural result than expected. Skin tone, lighting, and shadows generally adapted to the original footage. When played normally on a phone, it did not look especially out of place.

However, problems appeared immediately when I switched to footage with a profile view or a face partially covered by a hand. Edges became blurry, and in some frames the face clearly looked “pasted on.”

Face-swap quality therefore does not depend only on the model. The quality of the input material is equally important.

Digital avatars are similar.

Preset Avatars generate quickly. Entering text produces a talking-head video in a short time, making them suitable for training, introductions, and ordinary marketing content. However, when viewed for longer periods, signs of AI remain visible, particularly in the skin, eyes, and subtle facial expressions.

If the avatar will represent a brand over the long term, Studio Avatar is more worthy of consideration.

After training it with footage of a real person, the person’s characteristics become more consistent, reducing the need for repeated filming. However, the cost and plan requirements are considerably higher.

The feature I preferred was video translation.

A common problem with ordinary AI dubbing is that the voice changes while the mouth continues speaking the original language. AKOOL also adjusts lip movement, making the overall result look considerably more natural, at least between common languages such as Chinese and English.

It is not completely seamless. Lip movements may still fail to match when speech is too fast, the mouth is obstructed, or a less common language is used. Even so, for marketing videos and courses, the result is much more complete than simply replacing the audio track.

Credits are another very practical issue.

A 30-second video may not seem long, but credit consumption accumulates quickly when you combine an avatar, translation, and several language versions.

AKOOL is therefore not well suited to the assumption that you can “buy one plan and use it freely.”

It is best to calculate how many minutes of content you will create each month and how many of those minutes involve translation or avatars before choosing a tier. Otherwise, the monthly fee may seem acceptable, only for you to discover during production that the credits are insufficient.

The free version is more suitable for evaluating results.

Resolution, watermarks, and model access are restricted. It is sufficient for determining whether Face Swap and translation work well with your own materials.

Pros

  • Centralized features: Face swapping, digital avatars, translation, and image generation do not need to be split across multiple platforms.
  • Practical video translation: Voice, subtitles, and lip movements can be processed together.
  • Several avatar options: Use preset Avatars or train one based on your own appearance.
  • Suitable for multilingual content: Particularly relevant to international marketing and course localization.
  • API access: Businesses can integrate the capabilities into their own production workflows.

Cons

  • Credit consumption is difficult to estimate: Different features and output specifications can have significantly different costs.
  • The free version has many restrictions: It is closer to a functional trial than a production plan.
  • Input quality has a major impact: Face swaps and avatars can distort when faces are obstructed or shown from the side.
  • High-quality avatars are expensive: Studio Avatar is not an ordinary feature included in lower-priced plans.
  • Commercial licensing requires careful review: The licensing differences between personal plans and Business cannot be ignored.

Best for / Not ideal for

Best for

  • Cross-border e-commerce and international teams: Quickly turn one video into several language versions.
  • Marketing and advertising teams: Useful for frequently producing avatar presentations, face swaps, or multiple versions of creative assets.
  • Training departments: Continuously update or translate courses with relatively stable content.
  • Content creators: Reduce repeated filming and voice-recording work.
  • Businesses requiring API integration: Connect video-generation capabilities to internal systems.

Not ideal for

  • People who only want to try face swapping occasionally: AKOOL’s plans and credit system may feel excessive for light use.
  • Commercial users with limited budgets: Business licensing requirements need to be considered for commercial use.
  • Projects requiring cinematic VFX: Quality that is sufficient for marketing does not replace professional visual-effects production.
  • People with poor-quality source material: Problems in the original footage directly affect face swaps and avatar quality.
  • Users who do not want to study credit usage: Costs must be calculated before high-volume production.

Summary

AKOOL’s advantage is not that any one of its features is the absolute market leader, but that it brings several commonly combined video needs into a single platform.

After swapping a face, you can continue by creating a digital avatar and then translate the video into multiple languages, without repeatedly exporting files between different websites.

This integration is practical for international marketing and training teams.

However, purchasing a plan does not mean you can generate without limits. Credits, output specifications, and licensing all affect the actual cost, especially for batch video production.

A sensible approach is to take one real video and run it through the complete workflow—face swapping, avatar creation, or translation—according to your actual needs.

If the results meet your expectations, calculate how many minutes of content you expect to produce each month.

Individuals can begin with a lower-tier plan for testing. For commercial advertising or branded content, first confirm that the Business-level license satisfies your requirements.
