As artificial intelligence becomes part of everyday business systems, companies are being forced to think more seriously about security.
On July 27, Nvidia announced the launch of the Open Secure AI Alliance, a group made up of 37 organizations, including Microsoft, IBM, Cisco, Cloudflare, CrowdStrike, Red Hat, Hugging Face and the Linux Foundation.
The group plans to develop and share open-source tools for AI security. These could be used to find software flaws, test systems for weaknesses and help security teams respond more quickly when something goes wrong.
For companies, one of the biggest concerns is data. Security logs, internal code and details about vulnerabilities are often too sensitive to send to outside platforms. Open tools that can run on a company’s own servers may give businesses more control over that information.
The alliance also plans to build on work already being done by open-source security communities. That includes efforts to improve how software flaws are discovered, fixed and reported.
The announcement comes as AI takes on a larger role inside businesses. These systems are no longer limited to answering questions. They are helping write code, manage data and carry out tasks across company networks.
That makes security more urgent. A weak point in an AI system can affect far more than a single tool. It can expose company data, disrupt services or create risks for customers.
The alliance is still at an early stage, and it remains to be seen how quickly its plans will turn into widely used tools. But the message is clear: as AI becomes more capable, companies will need stronger and more open ways to protect it.
