Ask Your PDF Overview

AskYourPDF originally became known for its Chat with PDF feature.

After uploading a PDF, users can ask questions directly. The AI finds answers, summarizes chapters, explains the content, and provides relevant citations.

It now supports more than PDFs. Documents such as PPT and EPUB files can also be processed.

For people who regularly read research papers, contracts, and reports, this remains the platform’s most mature capability.

AskYourPDF later expanded in two additional directions.

One is AI Agent for Website.

Users can build a knowledge base from their own documents and website content, then embed a chat component into their site. When visitors ask questions, the AI responds based on those materials instead of providing only generic answers.

The other is AI PDF Form Filler.

This feature is more focused on office automation.

For example, if you have a document containing customer information and a PDF form that needs to be completed, you can give both to the AI. It identifies the corresponding fields and fills in information such as names, addresses, and dates.

It is suitable for repetitive tasks that involve copying information from one file into another form.

These features are still built around document understanding, but their use is no longer limited to a chat interface.

Ask Your PDF Pricing

PlanPriceDescription
Free Plan Free Supports approximately 100 pages or 15 MB per document, around one document and 50 questions per day, and uses GPT-4o Mini. OCR is not supported.
Premium Plan Around $14.99/month Supports up to approximately 2,500 pages or 30 MB per document, around 50 documents and 1,200 questions per day, and adds OCR, multi-document chat, and selected advanced models.
Pro Plan Around $24.99/month Increases document-size and daily processing limits, provides more generous question and conversation allowances, and includes additional models, longer responses, and priority support.

AskYourPDF offers a free plan and paid subscriptions. Pricing may differ slightly between the web version and in-app purchases.

Annual billing is generally less expensive. Based on publicly available prices, Premium costs approximately $7.50 per month when billed annually, while Pro costs approximately $11.25 per month.

The free plan’s main limitation is not the number of answers. It is that only a small number of new documents can be processed each day, and OCR is unavailable.

If you only read one ordinary PDF per day, the free allowance may still be sufficient.

Premium becomes much more practical when you need to analyze several research papers or multiple contracts at once, or when your files are scanned documents.

Advanced models may also require additional Credits, so the subscription price alone does not represent the full cost. If you frequently switch between models such as GPT and Claude, check the specific allowances as well.

Ask Your PDF Key Features

  1. AI document chat: Upload PDF, PPT, EPUB, and other files, then ask questions directly to receive answers, summaries, and relevant source citations.
  2. Multi-document question answering: Add multiple resources to the same knowledge base to search across files, compare information, and organize conclusions.
  3. OCR: Paid plans can recognize text in scanned PDFs and image-based documents, enabling further question answering and analysis.
  4. AI PDF form filling: Reads PDF forms and external data sources, automatically identifies fields, and inserts the corresponding information.
  5. Website AI Agent: Builds a knowledge base from website content and uploaded documents, then embeds a question-answering chatbot into a webpage to handle visitor inquiries.
  6. Research and writing tools: Provides research and writing assistance such as paper analysis, Literature Review Writer, and Essay Maker.
  7. Multi-platform access: Available through the web, iOS, Android, a Chrome extension, and a Zotero plugin.
  8. API: Developers can upload documents, submit queries, and integrate document question-answering capabilities into their own applications.

Ask Your PDF Editorial Review

AskYourPDF’s PDF chat functionality is now fairly mature.

After I uploaded a PDF containing several dozen pages, the page presented a selection of suggested questions once processing was complete.

When I asked for the main points of a particular chapter, it provided an answer together with relevant citations and page numbers.

This is more convenient than copying an entire PDF into a general-purpose chat tool, especially when you need to check sources repeatedly.

However, the limitations of the free plan become apparent quickly.

The most noticeable restriction is the number of new documents allowed each day.

If you only need to read one report occasionally, this is not a problem.

Research work, however, often requires opening several papers on the same day. The free allowance can easily interrupt the workflow.

OCR is another issue.

When I switched to a scanned document, the free plan could not process it as directly as a standard text-based PDF.

If you regularly work with scanned contracts, historical documents, receipts, or similar files, OCR is essentially a necessary feature.

For these users, Premium is not simply about receiving a slightly larger allowance. It directly determines whether certain files can be used at all.

The multi-document knowledge base is better suited to comparison tasks.

For example, you can add several papers about the same topic and ask:

“What are the main differences in the research methods used by these papers?”

This is much faster than switching between separate tabs and reviewing each paper manually.

However, the more documents you add, the more carefully you should check the citations.

AI can help narrow the search area, but for research data, contract clauses, or important figures, I would not rely solely on the generated summary. I would still return to the original document for verification.

PDF Form Filler follows a different workflow.

Instead of asking a document a question, the AI extracts information from one source and enters it into another form.

Standard fields such as names, addresses, and dates are relatively easy to match.

When the form has a complex structure or ambiguously named fields, you still need to review the results rather than assuming that every box has been completed correctly.

The same principle applies to the website Agent.

The quality of its customer-support answers depends not only on the model, but also on how clean and consistent the source material is.

If the FAQ is outdated or different pages contain conflicting information, the AI will inherit those problems.

Pros

  • Mature PDF question answering: Searching for content, generating summaries, and reviewing citations all work smoothly.
  • Supports more than PDFs: PPT, EPUB, and other document types can also be analyzed.
  • Practical multi-document features: Useful for comparing research papers, contracts, and reports.
  • OCR support: Paid plans can process scanned documents.
  • Form filling reduces copying and pasting and pasting: Helpful for administrative work and repetitive data entry.
  • Available through several access points: Can be used through browsers, mobile devices, and Zotero.

Cons

  • Tight limits on new documents in the free plan: Processing multiple files on the same day can quickly reach the limit.
  • OCR requires payment: Users working with scanned files will generally need Premium.
  • Advanced models may consume additional Credits: The actual cost may exceed the subscription fee.
  • The features are becoming more fragmented: Document chat, the website Agent, and form processing do not form one completely unified workflow.
  • Newer features still require human review: Automated form filling and website question answering should not be treated as completely reliable automation.

Best for / Not ideal for

Best for

  • Students and researchers: Suitable for people who regularly read papers, textbooks, and lengthy reports.
  • Contract and document professionals: Useful for quickly locating clauses, figures, and exact sources.
  • Administrative staff: Helpful for large volumes of PDF forms and repetitive data-entry work.
  • Website operators: Can use existing documents to build a basic AI support assistant quickly.
  • Zotero users: Suitable for those who want literature management and AI question answering closer together.

Not ideal for

  • People who read only a few PDFs per year: Ordinary free AI tools may already be sufficient.
  • People who depend entirely on free allowances: Daily document limits and the lack of OCR will be significant restrictions.
  • People who need highly reliable automated form filling: Important forms still require human verification.
  • People who expect one subscription to cover every business feature: Pricing and access for website Agents, form tools, and other modules need to be checked separately.
  • Organizations handling highly sensitive documents: Before uploading production materials, they should verify the current privacy policy, data-retention terms, and enterprise deployment conditions.

Summary

AskYourPDF is no longer just a tool for “chatting with PDFs.”

It has begun applying the same document-understanding capabilities to a wider range of tasks, including reading materials, searching across multiple documents, filling out forms, and even answering questions from website visitors.

PDF question answering remains its most reliable feature.

If you only read one ordinary document each day, the free plan is enough to determine whether it suits your needs.

Premium becomes more worthwhile if you regularly process scanned files, multiple research papers, or long contracts.

As for PDF Form Filler and the website Agent, there is no need to purchase them simply because they are offered on the same platform.

First determine whether your work involves large amounts of repetitive form filling or whether website support is genuinely consuming substantial staff time.

If those problems exist, test the relevant module separately.

Whether AskYourPDF is worth paying for ultimately depends on how much time it can save you from the daily work of turning pages, searching, copying, and filling out forms.
