The first thing you notice when opening Freepik AI is that there are a lot of entry points.
Images, video, audio, stock assets, and editing tools all have their own sections. Within each category is another list of models and features. At first, it can be difficult to know where to begin.
Using only one feature is manageable. Once you start switching between different models, however, it takes some time to become familiar with the platform.
I tested Flux and Seedream using the same prompt, and the results were clearly different.
This is what makes Freepik AI both useful and complicated.
More models mean more choice, but it helps to understand what each model is generally good at. Auto mode can save a step, but when you have specific style requirements, manually selecting a model is often more reliable.
Credits also require attention.
A standard image may not cost very much, but consumption can rise suddenly when you switch to higher-quality generation or video. If you repeatedly change models to compare results, it is easy to use a large portion of your allowance without noticing.
This is especially apparent with video generation.
Freepik is therefore easier to use when you first identify the two or three models you rely on most, instead of randomly choosing from dozens of options every time.
The image-editing workflow also feels somewhat fragmented.
After generating an image, removing the background, expanding the canvas, or making detailed adjustments often requires opening a different tool page. You remain within Freepik, but the experience does not always feel like one continuous workflow.
The stock-asset library, on the other hand, was more useful than I expected.
For example, if you need a specific traditional object and several AI generations fail to reproduce it accurately, you can search the library and find an existing asset within minutes.
This combination of “generate it if possible, search for an asset if not” is one of the main differences between Freepik and a pure AI platform.
Magnific’s enhancement features also work well as a final step. Once you have settled on an image direction, you can upscale it and add detail without exporting it to another website.

- Generation and stock assets complement each other: If AI cannot reproduce something accurately, you can search for a ready-made asset instead.

- There are too many features: First-time users may find it difficult to identify what matters most.
- Model selection has a learning curve: Without understanding the different models, it is easy to become trapped in repeated trial and error.
- Credit consumption is inconsistent: Costs vary considerably between images, video, and different models.
- Some editing workflows remain fragmented: The features are on one platform, but they do not always operate within the same workspace.
- Frequent use requires cost calculations: Video generation in particular can consume credits very quickly.
