The most distinctive part of updream is Skills.

Professional creators can package their frequently used production processes into Skills and publish them to the community. Other users can apply those workflows directly instead of starting with a blank prompt.

For example, when creating a motion comic, a Skill can define a sequence that begins with writing the script, then establishing the characters, breaking the story into a storyboard, and finally generating the shots.

It is somewhat like GitHub for visual production: you can take a method that someone else has already validated and modify it instead of rediscovering the process every time.

The entire workflow is placed on an Infinite Canvas.

The difference between updream and a typical AI video website is immediately apparent when you first open it.

Instead of a large input box, you see a canvas with an Agent beside it.

I tried creating a short video in the style of a traditional Chinese xianxia fantasy and began by selecting the “Script Planning Assistant” Skill.

The Agent asked what the story should be about, what kind of personality the protagonist should have, and where the scene should take place. After several rounds of conversation, it produced an initial script outline.

The ending felt slightly rushed, so I asked it to rewrite that particular node.

After the revision, I continued to the next stage.

This sequence felt much more comfortable than rushing to generate shots immediately.

Once the script was finalized, the process moved to the storyboard. The Agent divided the story into eight shots, each with a visual description and emotional information.

Character reference images were also established in advance and reused in the subsequent shots.

Faces and clothing remained considerably more consistent than when generating every shot independently, although this should not be interpreted as perfect consistency.

The easiest mistakes occur in the early choices.

During one step, the system generated four images to establish the scene’s atmosphere. I continued without reviewing them carefully. As a result, several later shots inherited the darker color palette of one option, making the mood of the entire video suddenly much heavier.

I eventually had to return to the earlier node and adjust it.

This is where the Infinite Canvas becomes useful.

You can directly see which earlier node a later result inherited from, rather than staring at the final video and guessing where the problem began.

You therefore should not use updream by simply pressing “Next” repeatedly.

It is best to review the characters, scenes, and key storyboard frames. If the upstream direction is wrong, the Agent will only continue producing the wrong result more quickly.

The entire workflow took approximately 40 minutes.

Some shots still contained visible AI artifacts, but the continuity between the script, characters, and shots was considerably better than repeatedly moving assets between several independent tools.

What it mainly saves is the time required to organize the workflow, rather than automating the entire creative process.
