I first uploaded a relatively simple video featuring a single person.
The person performed movements in front of the camera, and I selected a preset robot character as the replacement.
Once processing was complete, the original performer had been replaced by the robot. The main body movements were followed reasonably well, while the camera movement and the relationship between the subject and the scene were preserved.
The effect is immediately understandable the first time you see it.
Previously, the workflow would have required tracking, rotoscoping, motion capture, and then processing the CG character. Flow Studio combines many of those steps into a single operation.
However, it is not a case of “upload a video and immediately receive a finished film.”
Simple shots save time, while complex shots still reveal problems.
When the performer turns quickly, crosses their arms, or becomes partially obstructed by another object, the motion can become unnatural. The character’s edges, lighting, and shadows may also need further correction.
For a short social-media video, the initial result may already be acceptable.
For a finished film or advertisement, the data will usually need to be exported to 3D software for further work.
The ability to use Maya, Blender, or Unreal Engine therefore still affects the quality of the final result.
Credit usage also needs to be calculated in advance.
A five-second live-action shot at 20 Credits per second consumes 100 Credits. The free plan includes only 300 Credits, so several attempts can exhaust it quickly.
For a real project, it is better to select the shots in advance and submit only the sections that genuinely require AI VFX.
Another notable advantage is that the local-computer requirements are relatively modest.
Most computation takes place in the cloud, so the service can be used in a browser on an ordinary computer. However, larger source files increase the dependence on network quality. Uploading and downloading 4K footage can take considerable time.
If you qualify for Autodesk’s education program, check the education-plan access first.
For students, this is more appropriate than beginning with a paid subscription.

Cons
- Complex movement still produces errors: Fast motion, occlusion, and shots containing several people are more difficult for the AI.
- Post-production skills are still required for finished work: Automatic processing does not mean the result is immediately ready for delivery.
- Credits are consumed quickly: Costs increase noticeably as video length grows.
- Highly dependent on network quality: Uploading and downloading large source files requires stable bandwidth.
- Some plan pricing is unclear: Pricing for tiers such as Standard needs to be confirmed separately.

- Independent filmmakers: Suitable for projects that need CG characters without having a complete VFX team.
- YouTube and short-film creators: Useful for quickly adding 3D characters or effects to live-action footage.

- 3D and VFX beginners: Reduces repetitive tracking and motion-capture work, leaving more time for later adjustments.
- People with existing Maya, Blender, or Unreal workflows: Flow Studio’s exported data is more likely to become genuinely useful in production.
Not ideal for
- People who want a finished film from one click: Complex shots normally require further correction.
- People who do not want to use 3D software at all: AI lowers the barrier but does not complete every post-production task.
- Teams frequently processing complex scenes with several people: Occlusion, fast movement, and character interaction are more likely to cause problems.
- People with poor internet connections: Cloud processing of large amounts of video can become frustrating.
- People applying effects to large volumes of long footage: Per-second Credit costs need to be calculated carefully.
